Are now environment and animals in the Constitution of Italy?
Italy has achieved a great goal for which regards the rights of the natural ecosystem. The Constitution has recently stated several rights for animals, as well as the environment. President of the parliamentary Intergroup for the rights of animals Michela Vittoria Brambilla has announced it. LAV President Gianluca Felicetti defines this achievement a great goal, too. The Commission for Constitutional Affairs of the Senate has already adopted to text on which to base the new statement. That seems to be coherent with the European Treaty of Lisbon, which recognizes animals as living beings. “The Republic protects the environment and the ecosystems, also in the interest of the future generations: it protects biodiversity and animals”, it is written on the base text. The text still has to be improved. Nevertheless, it is a great achievement for the environmentalist community.
